Drugstore Starter Kit

December 7, 2014

So I know this post is long over due! My life has been absolutely crazy due to #finalsweek. I've been the captain of the struggle bus lately.

In this video, I talked about a couple of my absolute favorite items at the drugstore. I have a really bad addiction to going to CVS and just spending countless hours in the makeup isle browsing for new products. It's a guilty pleasure of mine and such a great stress reliever! I think these products are amazing and are perfect for anyone starting out in makeup, or they want to widen their horizons at the drugstore. I've learned that they are a lot of quality items at the drugstore, it just takes some digging around to find those hidden gems.

I hope you guys enjoy the video and leave a comment down below what you are currently loving at the drugstore!

Fall Music Playlist | Autumn Daze

November 24, 2014

I believe that there is a certain power that music can hold over us. Every year around autumn, I will make a specific playlist that I will listen to non-stop. These songs just make me feel cozy and warm. They tend to be very acoustic and americana. I tend to go more toward the alternative/folk/americana style of music, like Mumford & Sons and The Civil Wars. I think these songs just capture exactly what I am feeling around this time of the year and just scream AUTUMN! These are some of my favorite songs and I hope you guys enjoy them as much as I do.

I hope you guys enjoy this fall playlist that I have created and jam to it all month long because I know I will. Leave a comment down below what songs you like listening to during the fall and I might add it to my playlist!

Favorite Autumn Nail Polishes

November 18, 2014

I have been so obsessed with buying brand new nail polishes lately, and I happened to notice that lately all the colors that I have been buying have been autumn like. So I thought this would be a perfect moment to start a mini series of my fall favorites!

I am obsessed with pinks and purples on a regular basis, but I am really loving more of a mix of berry shades and I think they are perfect for autumn! I think taking a very muted tone to these shades are so beautiful. The colors are still vibrant, but are a lot warmer for the season, especially Revlon's ColorStay Gel Envy "Hold Em".

I also love my drugstore brand nail polishes, but I am just obsessing over my new Essie "In Stitches". I think this shade is great for autumn and even in spring too. I also love my old classics like Butter London "Royal Navy" and OPI "Malaga Wine". These two shades are a staple in my nail polish collection and I always go back to them around this time of the year.

Let's all excuse my bad paint job I did in my nail polish swatches. For the daughter of an artist, you'd think I could do a much better job.

The 'Me Time' TAG!

November 14, 2014

As a senior in college, I constantly feel stressed. From all the extracurriculars, all the classes, trying to have a job, do YouTube, have a social life, and a non-existent love life, sometimes can feel like you are on the edge of the next panic attack. This is why I love me some quality time with myself and decided to do this tag created by the ever-so-lovely, essiebutton and Amelia Liana! They have a great rep at making up tags, so obviously it was natural that I did this tag.

So I hope you're snuggled up in your bed with a face mask and I hope you guys like this video. Leave a comment down what is your favorite thing to do during me time!

October Favorites

November 12, 2014

Can you believe that October is over? I can't believe that Christmas is next month and so is 2015. This is so crazy. 2014 has definitely flown by for me. But now it is November so that means it's only makes sense for this to be my October favorites time! I know that I didn't do a September favorites, but that was simply because I didn't buy that much in beauty products. Which inevitably made this video definitely a lot longer that I originally planned. There was honestly so much stuff that I wanted to share with you guys because I kinda went a bit crazy in the last couple weeks and found some new hidden gems. So gather up your hot chocolate and cozy warm blanket, and get ready for a long haul video!

Embur Eats: Le Steak + Haricot Verts

October 21, 2014

So often I am stuck making dinner for 1. Being a single and roommateless college girl, I often have to fend for myself when it comes to dinner. Sometimes it can be hard being on a broken college student's budget, but with this Embur Eats series, I want to show you guys some of my favorite meals that I love to cook at home (if and when I have the time)!

I am a really big steak lover. It's actually the only form of beef that I eat (*shocker*), because it's so high in iron and I often lack a lot of that in my diet. This recipe that I am going to show you is how I personally prepare and cook my steak dinner.

So here I have a ribeye that I picked up at my local grocery store, fresh cut green beans (I hate canned ones), and a potato that I am going to bake in my microwave. Now you may be wondering how I am going to cook or grill a steak in a tiny apartment, but we will get to that in a second! I usually will sit my steak out to thaw in the sink for about 3 hours, and then sit in the fridge to keep it cool.

- 1/2 tsp of seasoning salt
- 1/4 tsp of seasoned meat tenderizer
- 1/4 tsp of ground cinnamon
- Pinch of ground black pepper
- 1/4 tsp of garlic salt
- Olive oil
- Butter

These are the ingredients that I use to season and marinate my steak. I first like start off by dry rubbing the steak with a seasoned meat tenderizer and just covering it with a light layer. Then, I like to go in with about 1/4 teaspoon of seasoning salt. I don't always use the entire 1/4 tsp, but I have that amount for a safe measure. I know some of you may be thinking that this a lot of salt, and by all means, if you don't want that much, feel free to not put as much as I do! I then sprinkle just a bit of pepper on to the steak, not too much though.

Now I'm going to give you my secret ingredient that is really going to give this steak such great flavoring. It's cinnamon! Some people tend to think this is weird, but trust me, it taste amazing! I like to only rub the cinnamon on the fat of the steak. By doing this, all the juice from the fat will be absorbed in the meat of the steak while and after it's done cooking. I usually will have just 1/2 teaspoon of it for good measure. Like with the seasoning salt, I won't always use all of it.

So now I'm going let the steak sit for a minute until it's at room temperature. I'm going to wash my hands, and go ahead and stick the potato in the microwave and start preparing my green beans. After I wash them off in my sink, I take a regular frying pan and pour just a bit of olive oil and butter in the pan and let that simmer.

I then put in my green beans and sprinkle a bit on garlic salt and pepper onto them. I don't have a set time to let them cook, just until they look a bit dark green. I'll usually put the stove on a low set temperature and put a lid on top of the pan.

Now I'm going to whip out my George Forman grill. This thing is so handy for people in small apartment. It gets pretty hot, so I don't like to leave it on there for long because it's going to cook it from both sides, unlike a regular grill. I personally love rare or medium rare steak just because I have low iron and I need it to be like so my body can absorb more iron. When you get a steak well-done, you burn out all the enzymes and nutrients from the meat. So I leave my on for 2 1/2 minutes.

After I take it off the grill, I will put it on a plate and cover it with foil and let it sit for a couple minutes just so the steak has time to absorb all the juices.

After that you are all done and ready to enjoy your meal! I hope you guys liked this recipe. I really want to continue a series like this on my blog. It's something different and I love switching things up every now and then. Let me know in the comments below or on instagram if you guys do this recipe using the hashtag #embureats and tagging me @emilyaleece!

A couple items are from London, but the rest are from about right before I left. Y'all I can go through beauty products like it's nobody's business.

Winged Liner Tutorial

September 26, 2014

I used to wear winged eyeliner all the freaking time! But then I just stopped for a while because I didn't have the patience and I started running out of q-tips. Then I discovered this technique and my life was changed. I couldn't believe I never thought of it before and now I'm right back to loving my wings! I may not be the best at it, but I'm still winging it.

I hope with this tutorial, you guys can find your wings too!

50 Facts About Me!

September 12, 2014

So this week on my channel, I thought it would be a good idea to talk a little bit about myself. I realized that I haven't shared with you guys a lot about myself. I also shared a little bit about my past cheeky weekend! ;)

I probably would have been good at just 25 facts, because I talk so much! But I wanna know one random fact about yourself or if you share anything in common with me! If so, leave a comment down below. Also feel free to give this video a big thumbs up and don't forget to subscribe!

So  it's that time of the month where I show all you lovelies what I was loving for the past month! I shockingly didn't have a huge selection, but what I did have were some of my down right all time faves that I have had in a while. There might even be a holy grail item involved...

Also, leave a comment down below some of the things you were loving this month, I'd love to know! Eyebrows on Flex

September 2, 2014

So this week I decided to make an updated eyebrow tutorial. The main reason is because I'm using new products now and I really enjoy these products a lot more. Also I'm just ashamed of my old eyebrow tutorial.

I hope you guys liked this tutorial! If you did, please feel free to go on over and give it a thumbs and subscribe for future videos. Also, leave a comment down below if you want me to do more tutorials. I really like doing them, but I need you guys to give me that little inspiration sometimes! And remember...

Closet Confidential

August 29, 2014

So I've been really into doing a lot stuff with fashion and style lately. I saw the Closet Confidential tag on a lot of beauty and fashion YouTuber's channels and I really wanted to do. I also just hate feeling left out. I also really like tag videos and I want to do a lot more in the near future for you guys!

I hope you guys liked this video, again sorry this blog post is a little late too. If you liked it, please feel free to give it a big thumbs up and subscribe for future videos. Also, leave a comment below if there are any other tag videos that you'd like me to do!

Quick Update!

August 28, 2014

Hey there love bugs! So I just wanted to throw out a quick update for you guys because I know I haven't really been too active on here and my channel either.

Basically school has started back up for me, and being that it's my senior year, I have a ton of stuff coming at me. I know I told you guys on my twitter that I was going to be posting a lot more stuff on my blog and I have yet to do any of that. I have all the pictures for stuff that I wanted to talk about, just haven't uploaded any of it. I'm not trying to makeup any excuses, but as you guys know, school has to come first. When I'm in class or doing work for class, I'm doing something for my acting or I'm doing something for dance. When that's not going on, I'm trying to get a job. God help me when I get one. When I'm not doing any of that, I'm also trying to have a social life so I don't have a panic attack from so much work piling up on top of me.

What I'm trying to get at is that I'm still here. I'm still alive. I will still be uploading videos, and I'll still be posting on here. I'm just not going to limit myself to such a strict schedule where I  make myself upload exactly every Monday. I'm going to try uploading on Wednesdays and Thursday and see what works better for me. I will upload every week because I do love making videos for you guys and I do like sharing my thoughts with you guys on this blog. However, in order for me to not have a panic attack, I need to be able to feel like I can breathe and be able to take my time on my videos and posts. I'm not just going to film a crappy video or write a lame post and upload it because I need content. I want my content to be great quality, so I'm going to take my time and make sure my content is something I like. If I don't love it, I'm not going to post it.

I hope to film a lot of videos this labor day weekend and get those out of the way, so then I have content ready, edited, and set to upload for you guys. Just bare with me guys. Getting back into the swing of doing all of this is taking so much energy out of me. Again, I'm not trying to make of excuses and feel like I'm nagging because I do love making videos for you guys, but my mental stability comes first. I hope you guys understand and I will see you next week!

The London Lookbook

So a couple weeks ago, I decided to post a lookbook on my channel. I know you guys really love it when I make lookbooks and I do too! This particular lookbook mainly focused on clothes that I bought while I was in London. You could easily take the outfits that I put together and wear them back to school, out to brunch with your girls, or really whenever. I think these outfits can be really versatile. I didn't put all the clothes that I bought while I was in London in this lookbook because let's face it, that would have been a really long video.

I hope you guys like this video, sorry the blog post came a little late. I hate feeling like I abandoned this baby. If you guys liked this video, please feel free to give it a thumbs up and subscribe for future videos! Also leave a comment down below which was your favorite outfit!

July Favorites

August 5, 2014

Wow, I honestly cannot believe that July is over and autumn is almost year. 2014 really needs to slow down. Nevertheless, it is my favorite time of the month aka monthly favorites time! July was definitely one of my favorite months in beauty. There was so much stuff that I fell in love with and I was just dying to share it with you guys.

I hope you guys liked this week's video and if you did, please feel free to give it a thumbs up and subscribe for future videos. Also, in the comments down below, tell me some of the things you were loving this month!

21st Birthday

August 2, 2014

So as many of you all know good and well from my twitter and instagram that last weekend was in fact my 21st birthday! It was such a wild time and honestly one of the best birthdays that I have ever had.

I think I probably had your typical 21st birthday, a house party and a casual trip to the bars. I loved that I got to have an actual house party though because I have never thrown one before. I felt like I got to actually celebrate my birthday, which I didn't do a lot of in my teenage years. The outcome of the weekend, however, also ended how a typical 21st birthday ends with me head first on the porcelain throne. Lovely.

Even though my birthday got the best of me, that did not mean that I could not look good! That's why this week's video, I decided to show you guys what I wore (on my face). I have been doing this particular look a lot lately, but I added a few darker colors from my Lorac Pro palette to it to spice it up for the occasion. I am absolutely loving this palette right now. I think the colors in it are so beautiful and I just love playing around with it and experimenting with different looks.

Never the less, I had an amazing birthday. It was definitely one for the books, from what I can remember. I am lucky that I got to spend my special day with some of my special friends.

I hope you guys also liked this video, and if you like this look please feel free to give it a thumbs up and subscribe for future videos. Also, if you try this look, please feel free to tag me in a picture on instagram at @emilyaleece and use the hashtag #itsembur!

My Summer Reads

July 23, 2014

It's about time we shake things up a little bit here on Embur. When's the last time you opened up a book? Like a real book? I love to read during the summer. Just sitting on a beach with a book in hand is probably one of my favorite things to do during the summer.

This week on my channel, I decide to talk about my top 7 favorite books of probably all time. Now I did say that I am a huge fan of Young Adult and that's primarily what my selection is. I think anyone can read YA. I don't think you have to be in your teens to like it. I think it's a great genre and anyone can relate to it.

I hope you guys enjoyed this weeks video and make sure you subscribe for next week's video! Also in the comments, let me know what are some of your favorite books to read during the summer?

HUGE London Haul!

July 16, 2014

I'm so beyond excited to finally share with you guys what all I bought while I was in London. I went a little bit overboard, but I knew that this was going to happen before I even left. The fashion scene over there is amazing and I got so caught up in it. I have already said that I buying myself a pair of Birkenstocks ASAP. I already know that most of the stuff that was big an in-style over there will be over here not for long. I just can't get over how many amazing the fashion is over there... Just AHHHH!

Stay tuned and subscribe for an upcoming look book featuring all of the clothes that I got. I cannot wait to share it with you guys! Feel free to leave a comment down below telling me some of the stuff that you loved and if you're obsessed with the London fashion scene as I am!

June Favorites

July 10, 2014

Can you believe that we are half way through 2014? This is absolutely crazy! Not only has this year flown by, but so has this summer because it is now July and that means it's time for some June Favorites! Boy, oh boy. I have loved the month of June. I was living it up in London, but now I am back and ready to share with you guys everything that I was loving this month besides hot British boys.

I hope you guys enjoyed this video. If you did, please feel free to give it a big thumbs up and subscribe for future videos. Leave a comment below telling me what were some of your favorite things you were loving this month!

Last Days, Last Memories | The London Vlog

July 6, 2014

My last few days in London were probably some of the best. They were the topper to the entire trip. We had so much fun because we were over with class and just ready to party and be a little wild for once. We had some unforgettable memories, some that I will not disclose on this blog.

When we weren't shopping during the day and checking out markets, we would go to a couple bars and hang out. We got to be VIPs at a nice bar in Central and have our own private room. It was pretty nice to feel all special for once and get our own private butler basically. The drinks were also amazing as well. That same night we went out to this nice club in Central for the first time and partied and danced our butts off. The club was in a Penthouse suite so the view from the club was the entire London sky line. It was drop dead gorgeous. Also, Central can be kind of crazy at night and so can the night bus if you don't watch it!

The next day, instead of packing, we went to check out the Shard and get a couple drinks for happy hour. Best happy house ever! The Shard is the tallest building in London and it literally looks like a shard of glass because the entire building is made out of windows. We went all the way up to the tip top 63rd floor and had a round of drinks and enjoyed the amazing view. After the Shard we went and had dinner at this fabulous Italian resturant in South Kensignton/Chelsea district. I got lobster linguini and it was to freaking die for! It was so mouthwatering, I mean just look at it!
Lobster Linguini
Then for desert we all went to our usual Kensington Creperie which turned into our favorite resturant in all of London! My waffle was amazing, which you may gaze at it yourself and feel free to drool over it like I did.

Milk Belgium Chocolate Waffle w/ Vanilla Ice Cream
After that, that was it. I went home and I cried. Literally. Saying bye to my friends was the hardest thing to do. It's like summer camp because you never know when you're going to see those people again. You spend so much time with them and create all these memories and inside jokes and then poof, everybody's gone. The entire three weeks went by in a blink of an eye. It was a trip I will never forget. I will never stop saying how lucky and grateful I was to take this trip and live out some dreams of mine in such a beautiful city. I definitely plan on going back. I know I will. I want to and will eventually end up moving there and raising a family. There's no doubt in my mind about it.

I'm so thankful to be able to take you guys with me as well. I hope you have enjoyed all my vlogs. I know I've really sucked with my blog posts, but with such a hectic schedule like I had, it was so hard to keep up with it. Now that I am back, I plan to do a lot more with this blog and get back to it. I can't wait to take you guys on more of my adventures!

Barnes to Windsor, Windsor to Barnes! | The London Vlog

July 4, 2014

I'm soooooo behind on writing my blogs. I have written all my blog posts on my notepad but I always forget to transfer them over to blogger. So please bare with me, thanksssssssss!

So I'm finally catching up with my vlogs now. In the fourth vlog, I visited Windsor Castle and the town around it. I was really upset when I was editing because I lost the footage I had from that morning. I guess I must have accidentally deleted or something, it really wasn't that much of an importance anyways! Now don't get me wrong, I love seeing all these places and going on adventures, but two things that I cannot stand are tour guides and looking like a tourist. I love going to certain places only locals know about and just blending in. Or maybe I just want to seem cooler. Honestly though, this tour guide and trip was just the biggest mess ever. We couldn't stop laughing from some of the things this tour guide was doing. His facial expressions and corny sayings were cracking all of us up. Hence, Barnes to Windsor. You had to be there to here this guy just say it and his facial expression with it. This probably one of my favorite inside jokes that our group had. It's like one of those things I can always look back on with a smile because that day was too great.

Later on in the week, I went to Brighton with the boys. Brighton is so freakin pretty. I just love that it's a pebble beach too. I tried so hard to find the infamous beach huts but I never did! But I did find a Nando's. We spent most of the day on the pier. I personally had no interest in riding any of the rides because I get my adrenaline rush from swiping a credit card at All Saints more than I do a roller coaster. God, if that didn't make me sound like I have a serious shopping addiction, then I don't know what does. My blog is seriously something that should be out of Confessions of a Shopaholic.

After we spent the day in Brighton, we decided to see The Fault in Our Stars. When I say we, I mean I dragged my guy friends with me. I thoroughly enjoyed it simply because I love the story and read the book and thought it to be fantastic! My guy friends, not so much. I can't blame them, I didn't expect them to like it in the first place. However, it was everything I absolutely hoped it would be. I was bawling my eyes out, like I looked so pathetic but it was just so good!

Then the very next day, (in vlog 5) we took a lovely trip to Harry Potter Studios! I'm not going to go into much detail with this because all the details are in the video, BUT THE ONE THING I DIDNT GET ON CAMERA WAS ME RIDING A BROOM! Best thing during the day ever. Oh my god amazing in every freakin way possible. Like it was such an unreal day. I got to try butterbeer too! It wasn't as amazing as I thought but it wasn't too bad. Sorry for not diving into too much detail, but this post is already long enough.

It's so hard to blog and travel and remember to do so many things. I've been doing nothing but travel lately so please bare with me. My trip is about over and I hope you guys don't hate me!

West End Girls | The London Vlog

June 24, 2014

Boy, oh boy, has a lot of stuff been going down around here! Need I remind you that all my vlogs are a week behind, meaning I'm blogging and posting about stuff that happened about a little over week ago. In Part 3, it was our first week of classes. I'm currently taking one course, Greek Mythology. The program I am involved with is only for three weeks, so I like that I get to take mythology for just three weeks in London versus a whole semester at my university in the States. I'm going to simply spare you the incredibly boring details of this class and fast forward straight to the fun stuff.

So the first night after class, we all had tickets to go see Wicked on the West End. Oh my God, this show was phenomenal. Wicked is hands down my favorite musical of all time. I love all the songs, the storyline, the characters, everything about this show is absolutely phenomenal. This cast was completely breathtaking. The woman who played Elphaba, Willemijn Verkaik, I would say was right up there with Idina Menzel. Homegirl was that freaking good. I started crying when she sang that last few notes in Defying Gravity because it was just that breathtaking. Of course I also cried at For Good, but when have I not. I could listen to the iTunes version and still probably cry. But this cast was amazing, you could really feel their natural chemistry coming to life. They brought so much to the characters and it was just UH-MAY-ZING!

I also had the great pleasure of meeting Jeremy Taylor, who played the role of Fiyero, after the show and had a nice chat with him. He was great in the show as well, the minute he started to sing, my mouth dropped and I instantly fell in love. He was even nice enough after the show to take a picture with me and my two friends from the study abroad group.

Later on in the week, a group of us found this magical place called Choccywoccydoodah. I know what you're thinking, what the crap is that? It is Heaven. Simply. It is a chocolate shop, I believe that there is only two perhaps, one in Central London and the other in Brighton. They sell an array of chocolates downstairs, and upstairs is a cafe that serves cakes, milkshakes, coffee, hot chocolate, cookies, dipping pots, sundaes, etc. Like I said, basically Heaven. The shop itself is to die for. It looks like something straight out of Alice in Wonderland with the painted red brick walls, black stripes, and whimsical lamps everywhere. It was so freakin precious and tastes even better! Definitely a London favorite for me.

We've been taking lots of tours to various places. In the part 3 vlog, I showed you guys our trip to Oxford. Fun little fact that I mention in the vlog, the dining hall at Christ Church was used as inspiration for the great dining hall in the Harry Potter films. Same with the staircase right outside of it. Not only was it used to film some scenes on, like McGongall presenting Hogwarts to Harry, Hermonie, and Ron, and where Harry looks into a memory of Tom Riddle. Those stairs were also used as inspiration for the moving staircases throughout Hogwarts. Other than that, most of our sightseeing places can be quiet boring. Granted they are beautiful places full of various facts in history, that I'm pretty sure you guys couldn't give two cares about.

Later on that same night, we decided to go to a local pub and watch the World Cup. England was playing that night so I was expecting a big turnout and a lot of crazy football fans. (Yes, I'm calling it football because that is the proper name here in the UK, not this soccer nonsense). I did not realize how crazy people could get here over it though. It's basically like how Americans get for the Super Bowl or how I normally get for March Madness basketball. I actually like football, I can understand it a lot more than America's football. Needless to say, I had a lot of fun though. Just hanging out with some friends and chilling is all I really need. The clubs here are great and I love being able to go out and dance and get my twerk on (yes, I just said that), but I honestly don't mind just hanging out at a pub with my friends and talking.

That basically sums up what was in the Part 3 vlog. I've been having so much fun here. I do miss my family, my dog, and my friends, but I know that I am going to miss London so much more after I leave. No offense mom, but I can always call my parents or call my friends, but I can't call London. I wish I could just have my close family and friends just move here and get a place here. I honestly kind of hate my dorm room. I always have had a hatred for dorm rooms, especially after getting my own apartment back in the States, but for three weeks I'm managing. I wish we were intertwined with the British kids, but alas we are not. Oh well!

I hope you guys have enjoyed this, I know I sure am! I love being able to take guys on all my adventures. I don't vlog everyday because somedays it's just boring day full of class and chilling back at the dorm with guys playing cards. I don't think you guys particularly would care about any of that, so I'm just going to show you guys the fun and exciting stuff. Heck yeah!

Mini disclaimer: according to UK laws, everyone in my video is old enough to drink. Maybe not in America, but over here in England, we are all over the age of 18 and it is legal here. I hate that I have to put this, but I feel that it is as best to just go ahead and do so before someone makes a comment about it.
