Beauty Breakdown | Wild Rituals Soap Co.

July 7, 2015

I'm going to say that 99% of my followers have absolutely no idea who and what Wild Rituals Soap Company is. Wild Rituals is handmade, organic soap company that is owned and produced by a lovely friend of mine, Megan Thompson. I'm going to go ahead and put a disclaimer out there that she did not pay me in anyway or give me any of these products for free. I simply popped into her store one day and fell in love with the items I bought so much that I thought she deserved so much more attention in the beauty world. Over the past few years, my instagram feed has been filled with gorgeous pictures of bath bombs, soaps, and face masks from her brand. After seeing how many of my friends were commenting on her Instagram pictures of her products, I killed my curiosity and finally bought some of her more popular products she had to offer. After that, I realized what the hype was about and fell in love myself.

Before we dive straight into the products, and I start my tangents of why they are outstanding, let me tell you a little about Megan and her brand from the company's website: "Wild Rituals Soap Company is based out of Winston-Salem, NC. We use the highest quality of ingredients and unrefined fair trade butters. Made in small batches, each bar of our cold process soap is enriched with organic and unrefined Ghanaian shea butter. We strive to provide our customers with natural and beautiful products to nourish body and soul. To keep our entire process as green as possible, our workshop is cleaned with all natural products. All of our products are either vegetarian or vegan and are never tested on animals. Formulating preservative free products that are both unique and fun! Utilizing the earth and it's many gifts, studying herbalism, and thinking of new ways to "Wow!" you with skincare are just a few things that mean a whole lot to us. Oh, and you!"

When it comes to skincare, I am the kind of person that really loves natural and organic products; so you can see why I was drawn to Wild Rituals in the first place. It's really hard to label a brand as "natural" in the first place because it isn't regulated by the FDA like the term organic is. Like some of the brands I mention on my blog, the Wild Rituals brand is not 100% natural or organic, but that doesn't mean that the products are bad for your skin. Megan says: "the closest that we get to having an 'unnatural' product is the use of a few fragrance oils here and there - other than that, all of our ingredients are grown by natural, derived from nature, or nature identical." I have never tried her oils, but it's understandable that a product like that would not be natural. Much like the brand Lush, her bath bombs "are not ALL natural - but they are made with the highest quality of fragrance oils mixed with essential oils. We pack them full of all natural butters and powders - like cocoa butter and seaweed powder! We do our best to ensure that these huge bath bombs are enriched with skin loving ingredients. Sadly, we can't get all those fun colors that bath bombs are known for with all natural colorants. This is why bath bombs are a one of a kind treat!"

Some of my favorites products that I have tried from her brand are her bath bombs, hands down. I am huge fan of bath bombs in general. I think that they are great thing to just pop in the bath whenever you need to unwind. Like a lot of bath bombs I have tried, the fragrances in her bath bombs are so delectable and pleasant. However, the thing that I enjoy about her bath bombs more than any other mainstream brand on the market is that make my skin feel like I bathed in a jar of my favorite lotion. I have never had my skin feel so hydrated and soft just from a bath bomb until I tried the Cleo's Bath bath bomb. The reason that it leaves your skin feeling so creamy is due to the shea butter and soy milk in this particular bath bomb. It was inspired by Cleopatra herself who claimed that she enjoyed indulging in milk baths to keep her skin youthful. The vanilla and Egyptian musk aroma, along the little sprinkle of gold shimmer, are the perfect topper to this indulging bath bomb. Goodnight, Moon is another bath bomb of her's that I've tried and I found it to leave skin feeling the exact same way. I didn't feel the need to lotion my skin after my bath like I normally would. I find that Goodnight, Moon is perfect for right before going to bed. The notes of lavender in it really help you relax while the mango butter absorbs into your skin.

I have never been a huge soap person. I don't tend to go to places in search for soap very often. However, I am fascinated by artisan soap. I think that they can look gorgeous and smell just as beautiful. I find that they are also a lot more nourishing and moisturizing for the skin, and Megan's are no where short of that. Whether you are just using the soaps to wash your hands or for your whole body in the shower, these soaps are not going to strip your skin like regular soap. Not only do they not strip my skin, but I can feel the natural oils melting into my skin as I lather it on my body and it doesn't leave my skin feeling tight after I wash it off. Aphrodite is by far my favorite, as well as a lot of other people. The blend of a rose, jasmine, sweet orange, and ylang ylang create a sensual scent that helps relieve stress from your mind. While her Calm soap is more along the same lines as the Goodnight, Moon bath bomb. Not only are they both topped off with oats and dead sea salt to help exfoliate the skin, but also contain french lavender to help relax and ease the mind for better sleep after a long day. I find that these soaps are great paired with a loofah or your own hands.

Since I suffer from KP and can get really dry skin, I love to use scrubs to really exfoliate my skin in the bath and shower. When I first picked up the London Fog scrub, I mainly just got it for the name (hello, it's London!) and because it contains sea salt which is one of my favorite ingredients in exfoliants. One of the special things about this scrub is that it contains a special Earl Grey tea from a local tea shop in Winston-Salem, Angelina's Teas. Like a lot of other products that I have mentioned, this also contains soy milk to help moisturize the skin even while exfoliating it at the same time. With ingredients that are infamous for healing skin like coconut oil, shea butter, manago butter, and sea salt, this scrub is going to leave the skin smooth and touchable while keeping down any inflammation you may possibly have. I do find that if I don't use this scrub for a while, the oil does start to pool up in the jar; but with a quick stir, the oil settles back into the scrubs and works just as new.

So those are all of the products that I have tried from this great brand, so far. Anytime I have a chance, I always love looking to see what new things Megan has in stock to try because there has not been anything that I did not like from her. I have gotten so many of my friends and family members hooked on her products, and I hope that this review has made you interested in trying out some of her stuff too! I definitely think if you are into more natural skin and bath products, you will really enjoy this brand. The products are really affordable and unique. You know everything that you are getting is handmade and natural. Also, hello small business appreciation! I have such high hopes for Wild Rituals Soap Company and can honestly see Megan's company going far. The determination she had behind this brand is truly inspiring. For a girl that is only 23 years old with no degree and completely self-taught in her craft, she has been unbelievably successful. I cannot wait to see where her business takes her.

Top 10 High-End Picks for Summer

July 2, 2015

A couple weeks ago on my channel I made a video of my Top 10 Drugstore Picks for Summer, so I thought it was only appropriate to share my top 10 high-end picks for this summer season! A lot of these products I really do love to use year round, but I think that they are perfect for the summer season as well. When it comes to summer makeup, I really want products that are going to have longevity through the heat, but also give me that natural and radiant glow from within. I live in the south, so it gets extremely humid here during the summer, so I need something that isn't too heavy on my face and is going to last through the sweat. Too TMI? I especially love products that have SPF included in them. Since I am very fair, I already try to wear some sunscreen when I go out during the day, but having that little extra protection in my makeup makes it feel and look better. Like I said, I'm all about the glow and I do love the smell of sun screen.

I don't normally wear heavy foundation during the summertime, at least not during the day. I'm more of a tinted moisturizer/BB cream lover in the summer. I'm going to end up sweating it off more than likely, so I don't see the point in wearing a heavy base that's going to melt off my face. One of my favorite bases to wear in the summer has to be the bareMinerals Complexion Rescue. For a tinted hydrating gel cream, this has such an amazing coverage. It hides my redness and really evens out my complexion. It also gives this cooling sensation when you apply it and I find that really refreshing. However, if I do decide to wear a bit more coverage at night, I need a primer that is going make my foundation last through the night and not have it breaking up on my face. Lately this summer, especially after trying this baby out in the Vegas heat, I have come to enjoy the Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer. Not only does this primer make my foundation go on smooth and stay on throughout the day and night, but it is slightly mattifying without making my skin look lackluster like many mattyfying primers do. With the help of this gorgeous, yet very expensive primer, my foundation doesn't settle into any fine lines or big pores. It keeps the oil around my T-Zone on lock, and I don't feel like I need to cake on extra powder all the time.

Like I said above, I'm all about that radiant glow from within look this time of year – but if we're being real here, when am I not though? One of my favorite highlighters as of late has hands down been the NARS Copacabana Illuminator. The glow you get from liquid highlighters is a lot more pigmented than from a simple powder product. This highlighter gives off a nice icy-pink finish that looks amazing on any skin tone. However, if you don't want that strong of a highlight, I highly recommend the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette. I have been lusting after this palette ever since it came out, and Sephora finally brought it back and I could not be happier. I will doing a full review and blog post on this product coming soon, so stay tuned for that!

Now I think bronzer is probably a must when it comes to summer beauty. One of my favorites has to be the infamous NARS Laguna bronzer. This is one of the best bronzer out there on the market. It has the perfect amount of warmth to its color, and even adding a bit of shimmer that gives off a subtle healthy glow to the skin. This bronzer can come off a bit heavy, but if you build the color up slightly, I think it will give you such a natural sunkissed bronzed tan to your skin.

When it comes to eyes for the summer, I love bright colors and warm shadows. I love warm shadows all year round, but I think summer is the perfect time to really play them up. Although I am partial to warm toned and matte shadows, I find that I am always diving into my shimmery shadows this time of the year. I think I have to give it to the Lorac PRO palette for my favorite summer eyeshadow palette because you can get so many looks with this simple palette – plus, it's travel friendly for your summer vacations! I also a huge fan of a winged eye, but I need something that isn't going to melt off my face from sweat. As far as waterproof liquid liner goes, nothing can top the Stila Stay All-Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner. This baby can stay on through anything the weather around me hits me with. I literally have to scrub this off my eye with an oil to just get it off. This liner can stick with me through thick or thin. It also comes in so many colors that are great for summer!

When it comes to staying power, I need my brows to hang on all day as well. Anytime I think of brows, I automatically think of Anastasia Beverly Hills because the girl is queen of everything brows; so obviously, I'm choosing my Anastasia DIPBROW pomade as my favorite brow product for the summer. I love it so much simply because I know my brows aren't going to melt off when I'm in the pool or gym. I know so many people rave about the Make Up For Ever Aqua Brows when it comes to needing waterproof brows, but I love the DIPBROW a lot more, especially if you set your brows after using it.

Everybody and their mother has been on this entire liquid lipstick craze lately, and I'm not ashamed to say that I am on the bandwagon. I've raved about the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks, but I think my favorites for summer are really the Too Faced Melted Liquid Lipsticks. They have a great staying power, they're really smooth on my lips, and they never dry them out. I also like it because I can layer on the lipstick throughout the day and night without them getting gunky or disgusting around the inner parts of my lips. If that doesn't sell you, I think the color range of these liquid lipsticks are great as well. There are so many bright colors that scream summer fun to me and I cannot stop wearing these bad boys right now.

If you watched my May Favorites that I posted on my channel a couple of weeks ago, then you would have seen me act like a complete idiot when I talked about the Urban Decay All-Nighter Makeup Setting Spray. This spray is so amazing in every single way possible and I cannot leave my house without dousing myself in this majesticness of this outstanding spray. I rambled on in that video about how my makeup withstood 103 degree Vegas heat with this spray, and if that doesn't show you how awesome this spray is, then I don't know what possibly could. I am so happy that I have this little baby in my life and I honestly don't think my makeup could last this hot and humid summer without it.

I hope you guys enjoyed this video, and if you haven't checked out my Top 10 Drugstore Picks for Summer, go on over to my channel to check it out now! What are some of your must have high-end products for summer?

Monthly Favorties | May

June 19, 2015

may favorites, L'Oreal Infallible, Stila Eyes Are The Window Mind palette, Urban Decay All Nighter spray, NARS Copacabana, NARS Pro-Prime, L'Oreal Infallible eyeshadow

This post is long over due, I am very aware. It's better late than never, am I right? I know my blogging game has not been quite up to par as of late, but I'm slowly getting back. Taking a long break really does wear on you. However, I am back and I'm ready to discuss some monthly favorites with you!

There was a lot that I was really into this month, so it was a little difficult to narrow down what I was loving. One of the big things that I talked about in my favorites video was the L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte foundation that I did a complete and full review on a week ago. I think that it's really rare, for me at least, that I love a drugstore foundation so much that I want to put it in my monthly favorites, but this foundation really is outstanding. I love the coverage that it gives, and I don't find it too mattifying for my taste. Normally I tend to shy away from very matte foundations, but this one really does let my skin shine through and give a nice glow to the skin.

Speaking of glow, I was utterly obsessed with the NARS Copacabana Illuminator. I really like mixing it in with the L'Oreal foundation. I think that they are such a great combo together. You get the medium-to-full coverage from the foundation, but the illumination from the liquid highlighter. I think the NARS illuminator is actually a hundred times more pigmented than the multiple stick. Even though I love the packaging and travel-friendlyness of the multiple, the illuminator gives such a better glow and radiance to the skin.

I also thoroughly enjoyed the Stila Eyes Are The Window Mind palette. I took this with me to Vegas and it really came in handy. During the day, I was not really into wearing a lot of makeup because it was so hot, so I loved using this palette to create a natural matte eye. Then at night, I would use some of the more darker shades and some shimmery shadows like the L'Oreal Infallible eyeshadows to take the look from day-to-glam. It worked great with the NARS Pro-Primer, and that primer really helped make the shadows last longer and give them more pigmentation almost. It's such a versatile palette for it to be all matte. I find that I can get so many looks with it without diving into another palette of mine. I'm personally just a really big fan of matte shadows. So if you like matte shadows, or you want an all matte palette just to add to your collection, I would definitely check this out! I think it's perfect for any collection whether you like cool or warm toned, you're going to get a nice mix of both.

I hope you all really enjoyed my May favorites! Again, apologies that it is going up rather late, but hopefully soon we will be getting back in the swing of things. What were your favorites from May?

Review: L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation

June 11, 2015

I am never the one to really be such a huge fan of matte foundations, especially ones from the drugstore. Since I have rather combination skin —where my skin can be a tad oily around my nose and dry everywhere else— I find that matte foundation really make my skin look a bit dull and lackluster, nor do I find that they mattify my nose area very much. That being said, I did not have very high expectations for the L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte foundation. Even though I had heard a lot of other bloggers and beauty YouTubers talk about this foundation and say that it isn't too mattifying and there is still some radiance in the skin, I brushed it off because I figured that was them and not me. However, I am not going to say I was wrong, but I will also not say I was right.

The foundation itself is supposed to have a demi-matte finish (at least that's what L'Oreal has placed on the back of the packaging), so I do find that the claim for it to be a 24hr pro-matte foundation to be a bit misleading. It's going to give you enough of a matte finish where I don't feel the need to set the foundation because it does dry to an almost powdery finish, yet still letting your natural skin shine through on the first layer where you tend to be a little oiler. If I had to give a comparison of the finish of this foundation to another one in my collection, I would probably say it is similar to the Tarte Amazonian clay full coverage liquid foundation. You guys know that the Tarte foundation is my favorite foundation, so for me to compare the L'Oreal one to that is saying a lot. However, I definitely would not say it's a dupe by any means. I just think the finish is the same. The Tarte foundation is full coverage with a light texture and demi-matte finish, whereas the L'Oreal Infallible foundation is medium coverage with a light texture and demi-matte finish. The L'Oreal foundation also doesn't have SPF like my Tarte foundation does which is a con for me, but it's great if you are using it for flash photography.

I have applied this foundation three separate ways: Beauty Blender, bareMinerals precision face brush, and the RealTechniques buffing brush. I personally prefer using the beauty blender because I find that it gives a much more natural finish to the skin. I love using the bareMinerals precision face brush for all my foundation, but I find that I have to go back in with my beauty blender to really smooth the foundation out to keep it from pooling up in my pores and leaving streaks. If you are really after that full coverage and matte look, I definitely would recommend using the RealTechinques buffing brush for sure.

L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte foundation

Now if you are like me and you hate matte finish, even semi-matte finish foundation, this is where I am going to show you my hacks. When I use this foundation, I love to use the Hourglass Mineral Veil primer, or I will use a more illuminating primer like the Maybelline Master Prime by FaceStudio in Blur + Illuminate. You all know that the Maybelline primer is one of my favorites, and even though I just recently picked up the Hourglass primer, I still think it is a great one to use if you don't want a strong glow like I do. The Hourglass primer will give you a glow, but not as strong as the Maybelline one will.

If primers aren't just enough for you and you still want an even stronger glow, I love mixing in my NARS Copacabana Illuminator with the foundation —yes, even on top of an illuminating primer. Now I know what you are thinking, I'm totally going against the entire point of this foundation. I agree and I know, but the reason I am doing this is because I find that the coverage is really great. I haven't found a foundation this great of coverage from a drugstore foundation in a really long time. I know it may seem like a lot of work in the morning, but by doing this, I get the exact coverage and finish from this foundation that can last me all day. It's matte where I need it and glowing where I want it without needing touch ups by the late afternoon. I can't attest to the 24 hour staying power, but I can attest to the 8-10 hour staying power. It lasts me an entire work/school day and that's exactly what I need.

In conclusion, whether you have been debating on purchasing this foundation, or if you are on the market for a new drugstore foundation, I would definitely check this baby out. I am aware that it does not have a great shade range (I am 101 Classic Ivory), but if you can find your shade, I would recommend giving it a try. If you have tried this foundation, let me know what your thoughts are in the comments down below and if you have found any beauty hacks for it!

The Sunday Post: Viva Las Vegas

June 7, 2015

This past week I have been in crazy Las Vegas, Nevada! I had such a blast on this trip. This was my first time ever going to Vegas, and actually my first time ever on the west coast. Let me tell you, 103 degrees over there is a whole lot better and nicer than 103 degrees in North Carolina. If it was that hot in North Carolina with our humidity, people would be having heat strokes left and right. So even though my hair and armpits loved the dry heat, my legs just did not. I did not realize that dry desert heat would dry my skin out so much. Note to self: if you move to the west coast, buy a ton of lotion.

Of course I did a lot of shopping, but not much gambling. The extent of my gambling was winning $5 on the slots, then losing that $5 at blackjack. Needless to say, I'm much better at fake blackjack than the real deal. Isn't that always the case? The extent of my gambling relied more on my luck. While we were in Vegas, Caesars Palace was hosting the iHeart Radio Pool Party. It was a pretty big deal and had been sold out for months and months. Well, while walking around Caesars Palace in search for drinks and celebrities, I actually ran into Echosmith who was performing in the concert. Stupid me didn't even think about asking for a picture with them. However, I ended up making up for that mishap. After that small encounter, I noticed that one of the doors to the closed off pool had been left unlocked. I wasn't the only one who noticed this after people not wearing passes to the Pool Party walked in and out of it. With just a second of looking to see that no one else was stopping them, I decided to barge right through the door and hide straight in the bushes. Although a security guard did come up to us and tell us that we weren't supposed to be there, he was nice enough not to kick us out. I was too concerned with what was happening on stage anyways. There he was, the love of my life: Nick freaking Jonas. The topping to the best night was probably hearing him sing 'Jealous' live! He is so much hotter in person, and those muscles are just as great. Seeing him again live was such a great reunion from the last time I saw him: in concert with the Jonas Brothers decked out in Jonas Brothers and Camp Rock merchandise. I'm so embarrassing!

Besides shopping and going out to nice dinners, plus seeing Jeff Dunham (one of my favorite comedians) live, that was the extent of my trip. I was not there long, only 4 nights, but for the time I was there, I had so much fun. I definitely would love to go back with a group of my girlfriends, although I don't know how well that would go. Literally it would probably end worse than the movie The Hangover. I love them, but they can be a little too crazy sometimes. Just put some alcohol in them and there is no turning back. Nevertheless, I had a great time and I cannot wait to go back soon!

Get Ready With Me | Rose Gold

May 21, 2015

I know that this is a super late post because I actually did this video last week on my channel (sorry about that). I'm slowly trying to get my blogging mojo back. I feel like when I put a lot of energy into one of my platforms, another one suffers. This week it's been my blog that has suffered. Anyways, I'm trying to get back on track and that is with this blog post!

In this video, I wanted to show you guys this red/rose gold/coppery/I-don't-know-what-to-really-call-it eye look that I have been doing a lot lately. I've been wearing this look a lot when I go out with my girl friends at night. I think that it's a fun look, especially for the summertime. It's very bright, eye-catching, and gliterry. It's definitely different and something that I normally do not wear. If you have blue eyes, even green eyes like me, this look is going to make your eyes really pop. It's definitely a bold look that you could also pair with a bold lip if you want; however I did just pair it with a simple nude lip because I wanted all the focus to be on my eyes.

Two of the products that I used to make this specific eye look were the Stila Eyes Are The Window Mind palette and L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Amber Rush. When I purchased the Stila palette, I really wanted to use that red shadow in the shade perception. It's such a rare shadow in my eyeshadow collection, so I definitely wanted to find a great look to use that in and I think is perfect. I love this palette overall because the shadows in it are so creamy and blend like a dream. A lot of people don't like an all matte palette because they don't think they can make an entire look from it, but I think I can, especially on lazy days. I just find these shadows really easy to work with. I also love the L'Oreal Infallible eyeshadows because they are like pressed pigments. They are very pigmented and are really easy to pack on the eyelid. I definitely want to get more of these in my collection.

I hope you guys like this video! I wanted to do something casual and laid back. If you like this kind of video, let me know and I will do some more in the future. Also, if you do this look or use the perception eyeshadow in some other way, let me know in the comments down below. I would love to find other ways to wear this shadow because it is so unique. Do you like wearing bold looks like this in the summer?

The Sunday Post: Need A Break

May 17, 2015

It's not like me to really take a break from blogging for almost two weeks like I have. I feel like so much has happened in these past two weeks that have honestly just made realize how desperate I was in need of a break. At the beginning of this week, I was not feeling that great. I couldn't get out of my bed because my migraines were just so bad. Then yesterday, I was involved in a car accident. No need to worry, I'm fine. However, Stella (my car) does need a little bit of plastic surgery. She will eventually be fine! Just a couple of touch-ups are needed. So clearly after that happened, I just wanted to cut off from everything and not do anything. I needed to breathe because my anxiety was just terrible after that happened.

Today, I was thinking about all the things that I needed to do in regards of my YouTube and blog before I left for Vegas at the end of the month. I still haven't made a blog post for my April Favorites or my latest Get Ready With Me that I filmed on my channel. Should I still make a blog post of my April favorites? Would you guys care? I just feel like I have been in such a rut. I haven't felt inspired and haven't wanted to blog. This is writers block to the max! I never get like this, so it's extremely frustrating! I'm a writer, that's my major, so for me to be just uninspired like this is very abnormal. I have things that I want to write about, but lately it feels like a task and not enjoyment. Hopefully after taking this much needed break, this means I'll be back at it again this week. Please let me know in the comments down below what you would love to see and give me some motivation and inspiration!

Do any of you get like this too? Let me know in the comments down below.

Where I've Been | Update

May 12, 2015

Long time, no blog post! Sorry about that, by the way. I do think that you deserve an apology. For the past couple of weeks, school was just absolutely crazy. I had finals and graduation (except I didn't graduate, but my friends did [*see picture above*]). It was definitely a hit in the face with a reality check for me because I realized that it was going to be me walking across the stage next year. Scary, right? It's scary, but also kind of thrilling because for the first time in my life, I don't have a plan. For someone that always has a plan and plans to make plans, not having a plan is such a change in pace for me. I'm terrified, but I cannot wait to see what life has in store for me. I'm so nervous for life after college, but I know that I'm going to make it and be okay. I have family and friends that support me so much, and they push me everyday to be better. No matter, I know they always have my back and are my biggest fans.

As far as what's to come in the next couple months, I have no plans either. As much as I miss London dearly, I'm kind of glad I don't have plans for the summer. I get the chance to relax and take this chance to be as free as I want my last summer vacation of undergrad. I want to take this time to improve not only on myself as a person, but on my writing and career. I want to actually figure out what it is I want with my life. I may not know where I'm going, but I know where it is I want to be.

So that's a little update on what's going on in my life as of now. I plan to do a lot more blogging and get back on track now that uni is out. I can finally focus on my little blurb on the web and make it better for you guys and me! I hope you guys are excited too. What are your summer plans? Let me know in the comments down below!

Sephora VIB Sale Haul

April 29, 2015

As some of you may have noticed, last week and the week before was the Sephora VIB Sale, where Sephora's VIB Rouge and VIB members received 15% off all products in the store. Everybody and their grandmother went crazy (especially online). If you read my Sephora VIB Sale Wish List, you may have noticed that I actually did not get a single thing that was on my wish list. Ironically, everything that I wanted was sold out in my Sephora. I guess that's what I get for going on Friday when the sale was almost half over. Oops. I know I could have ordered it all online, but I really hate waiting. When I want to go out and buy myself a product, I want it right then so I can try it out and swatch it. I'm also overly paranoid that something will break in the mail because that's happened to me before when I ordered my Lorac Pro palette—yes, I'm still jaded about that. That being said, I did take the chance to go ahead and get some products I either needed a back-up of or products I had been debating about trying, but wasn't too sure and now I'm so glad I did get!

NARS Laguna Bronzing Powder
NARS is one of my favorite brands, I want almost every thing by them. Although, the Laguna bronzer was one of those products that I was always on the fence about purchasing simply because I was afraid it would be too dark for me and too pricey; that is simply not that case at all anymore. Luckily it was one of the few things that my Sephora had in stock from NARS and I took the 15% off as plunge to get it. Now I can't stop using it! I absolutely love it, and I can see why everyone else does too. The description on Sephora's website says that is a slight goldish/brown shimmer, and if you look really close in the pan, you do see a slight shimmer. However, when you apply on your face, it definitely appears matte without any noticeable shimmer. It's obviously a cult classic product that is always hyped up because so many people say that it's one of their favorite brozners, and I am officially now one of those people too. I still think my Benefit Hoola bronzer is my ride or die bronzer, but Laguna is definitely a close second.

bareMinerals Complexion Rescue
I had been wanting the Complexion Rescue for a really long time. I have heard countless of amazing reviews of it and some great first impressions too. The only reason that I didn't put it on my wish list was because I wanted to get a little bit more use out of my NARS tinted moisturizer before I went out and got another product that was basically another tinted moisturizer. But when I saw that they were out of my shade in the NARS Sheer Glow, I thought why not go ahead and give the Complexion Rescue a shot (it's a lot cheaper too), and I'm so glad I did! I have worn this almost every day since I bought it, and I haven't done that with a base product since I bought my Tarte Amazonian Clay foundation. When bareMinerals said that this was a tinted hydrating gel cream, they weren't joking. From the moment I first apply it on my skin, it gives a sort of cooling touch to the skin, and as I apply it, I feel like it actually is hydrating my skin. I love that it's a gel cream, you guys know that is my favorite texture when it comes to a base product. BareMinerals says that it's supposed to basically be a tinted moisturizer, BB cream, and CC cream all rolled into one. But for what I basically just consider to be a tinted moisturizer, it gives so much coverage than I thought. It really does even out my complexion and cover my redness to where I don't need to go in with my concealer that much after. It gives off this radiance from within kind of look (and you guys know I love that), and I felt like the longer I wore it, the better it actually looked. This was definitely the best purchase I think I got from the sale.

Sephora Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover
This was a back-up that I basically needed. Since it's getting warmer, I've started wearing a lot more waterproof mascara. Normally I use the Lancome Bi-Facil waterproof eye makeup remover, but it's so expensive, and my Sephora does not sell it. I had heard a lot people talk about Sephora's own waterproof eye makeup remover, so I thought why not try it out! I have to say, I do still love the Lancome one just because it doesn't leave my skin feeling too oily or greasey. Also if it gets in my eyes, it doesn't sting. However, I do feel like the Sephora one removers my eye makeup a lot quicker. All I do is shake it up, pour some on a cotton pad, and just sit it on my eye and almost all of my eye makeup and mascara comes off in one swipe. I do think that I have to scrub a little bit more to get my mascara off with the Lancome one (which I know you're not supposed to do, but yolo). So I don't really like the oily film it leaves on my skin, but my eyelashes don't hurt afterwards so it's kind of in between with this one. I don't love it, but I don't hate it. I feel like with waterproof eye makeup remover, it's just one of those things where you just have to settle.

WEN by Chaz Dean Fig Cleansing Conditioner
I have used WEN before, although I'm not sure if I've talked about them before on my YouTube or blog. I was so happy when they started selling WEN in Sephora because I think it's such a great brand that a lot more people should really use. At first, it does sound weird saying that this is the one product that you use on your hair. You don't need shampoo, conditioner, deep condition, leave-in conditioner, or a detangler. As someone who doesn't wash their hair a lot, I was thrown off a bit back when I started using it because I wasn't sure how it was supposed to clean your hair, and I need that. Somehow, someway, I don't know the exact science behind it, but it does clean your hair without leaving it dry and lifeless. The thing that I love about the WEN Cleansing Conditioner, and why I've gone back to it is because when I wash my hair at night, I don't wake up with this dry frizzy hair that can't hold a curl or stay straight. It gives you that second day hair immediately. When you use a regular shampoo and conditioner, you strip the hair of it's natural oils. The WEN Cleansing Conditioner not only cleans the hair, but puts it back in natural oils better than a regular conditioner could ever do. It gives my hair life without making my hair look too orange or brassy. It makes my hair feel healthier, even though it's not. If you have not tried it, I would definitely check it out. The girl at Sephora said that the Fig one was good for red hair, I'm not 100% sure about that. I did notice that the Fig one has left my hair feeling better than the Cucumber Aloe, Sweet Almond, or Lavender one has. So I've tried all of them, and this one for some reason, I like the texture it leaves my hair feeling the next day a lot more.

Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray
This was a product that I wanted to just get a back-up of since it's getting warmer and I sweat like a gorilla in the rainforest around this time of the year. I love this setting spray because it really is like hairspray for your face. I use it every night when I go out, and I've even used it when I go to the gym or dance practice and I want to have on a little concealer, mascara, and my eyebrows done. I don't see a lot of movement from my makeup when I use this spray. My makeup is not broken up by the end of night when I use it. Especially on my nose, that's where I tend to lose makeup the first because it can get a little oily. I still lose a little on my nose and the top of my forehead near my hairline, but not as much as usual. It's to be expected I lose a little bit here and there because you can't beat the heat all the time. It's still a great spray that I will always use when I know I need to stay flawless.

So that is everything that I bought at the Sephora VIB Sale. I know I didn't get as much as a lot of other people, but home girl is college student trying to learn how to actually budget money still. I am very pleased with what I got, even though everything I originally wanted was sold out. I think I got some great products that I will continue to love and use for a long time. Did you participate in the sale? If so, what did you get in the sale? Let me know in the comments down below!

Disappointing Products No. 1

April 27, 2015

Sometimes, even in the beauty world, things don't always work out. No one likes it when they are really excited to try out a new beauty product, and then the product falls flat and fails to impress us. You tried so hard to commit to the product, but you never could see eye-to-eye. No matter how hard you tried to make it work between you two, it was obvious that you weren't happy anymore. Now you had to face the facts - it's time for a break-up.

I hate break-ups as much as the next girl, but when it comes to all things beauty related, I'm not ashamed to toss in the towel sometimes. I'll usually give the product a fighting chance, hear their side of the argument and see what they claim that they can do for me, but if I'm doubting it already, then that means a third or fourth chance is probably not worth it. I hate being disappointed in a product because, most of the time, I really want to love it. I really do! I just have to remember that every product is not going to be my soulmate. Every foundation is not going to be the Ross to my Rachel, even if we do take a break.

I know this is a rather short post, but I mainly wanted to let the video do the talking this time. I hope you guys enjoyed it as well! Are there any products that you regret purchasing that I should be warned about? Have any of these products disappointed you? Let me know in the comments down below!

Spring Drugstore Beauty Tutorial

April 21, 2015

I love spring beauty products and there has been so many new launches recently, especially from the drugstore. When it comes to my makeup in the spring, I really like to have that glow from within kind of feel. I also like to slowly start incorporating color into everyday looks. Now I say slowly because I'm a neutral eyeshadow girl at heart. So when I bought the L'Oreal La Palette Nude 2, it was kind of a big step for me. Besides this, the only real color I ever used was in my Urban Decay 3 palette or my Lorac Pro palette, and those aren't that crazy. I figured purple would be appropriate though because it makes my green eyes really pop!

A lot of the products that I used in this tutorial look very familiar to you because I have been talking about them non-stop since my spring beauty haul. (I know, I sound like a broken record, but these products are just that amazing.) This look that I did with these new products are becoming my favorites, if they already weren't in my March favorites. The Maybelline Master Prime in Blur + Illuminate is becoming a possible holy grail primer for sure.

One of the newer items that I was trying out in this tutorial was the Rimmel Lasting Finish 25hr with Comfort Serum Skin Perfecting Full Coverage Foundation. I know, it's such a long name that I want to punch Rimmel in the face for it. You are all aware of my annoyance for long product names. However, I am not annoyed by this foundation. I love it - honest. I rarely do like drugstore liquid foundations, especially when they promise me full coverage because I never get that result. I don't believe I get full coverage with this foundation, it's definitely more medium, but I actually don't hate it. For a natural spring look, I think it works really well. It blends into the skin very evenly and doesn't cling to any of my dry patches or pool up in my pores. It definitely helps even out my skin and redness without caking up or suffocating my skin. As far as the whole 25 hour appeal, I never plan on keeping my makeup on that long so I can't verify how true that really is. I honestly beg of you not keep your foundation on that long, please. Overall, I definitely hope to be using this more and more in the future.

I love this L'Oreal La Palette Nude 2, too! I have been waiting and dying for this to come over to America so badly, and now it is finally here! Granted, I don't believe that it is exactly the same as it is in Britain, which makes me a bit upset because that one looked amazing and had a lot more warm brown tone eyeshadows in the palette. These are the ideal drugstore eyeshadows. Honestly, the best ones I have ever tried and are so comparable to Urban Decay's. These shadows are buttery, pigmented, long-lasting, just basically everything you want from the drugstore. Although it's kind of pricey for drugstore eyeshadow, I think it's appropriate just because they are that outstanding!

I hope you guys like this tutorial, let me know if you guys have tried this palette and what you think of the look. What is your staple makeup product this spring from the drugstore? Let me know in the comments down below!

Sephora VIB Sale Wish List

April 16, 2015

Sephora VIB Sale Wish List

As a lot of you may know, Sephora has started one of their big VIB sales, with VIB Rouge members kicking off this past Sunday and VIB members starting yesterday until 4/21. Both members can receive 15% off, and I will leave the coupon codes at the end of this post too. I look forward to this sale every year because I love spring makeup and seeing what new goodies brands are coming out with. My 'to-buy' wish list keeps getting longer and longer as months go by, and even though I wish I could, I definitely will not being buying everything that I am going to mention in this post. Lord knows, I got student loans that need to be paid too! I really love reading what other people have on their wishlists, so I thought why not share mine as well!

1. Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in No Pressure!
I love cream products for spring, and lately I have been loving my Maybelline Color Tattoos so much that I thought it was time to take it up a notch and try out some high-end cream shadows. Every time I pass a Benefit counter or go by it in Sephora, I always swatch a couple of these babies because they are so pigmented and creamy. No Pressure! is also just the perfect color for everyday wear as well.
2. Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Concealer
You all know I am a huge concealer junkie, and I have heard nothing but amazing things about this concealer. I'm telling you, the minute Jaclyn Hill mentioned it in her monthly favorites, I ran to Sephora to swatch it. It seriously is the most weightless and airy concealer I have ever swatched, but yet it still has such an insane amount of coverage. If I get it, I'm really hoping it will go great under my eyes unlike the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer that creased terribly.
3. NARS Sheer Glow Foundation
This is a foundation that apparently everybody and their freaking mother loves. I figured since I love the NARS Tinted Moisturizer so much then I should try out more of their base products. This baby has been around forever, but I'm always hearing mixed things so that's why I still don't have it. I may cave and get it, or even just get a sample to try.
4. NARS Pro-Prime Eyeshadow Base
Another NARS product that everybody loves and I desperately need. I have been eying this baby for months now because I'm almost out of my LORAC primer and my Urban Decay Primer Potion. My lids have been oily a lot lately, so I'm hoping this baby will do the trick!
5. Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit
I have gone back and forth trying to decide if I honestly want this palette. I like the contour shades in it, but I've been iffy with the highlighting shades. I like a strong highlight, and when I swatched in store, they didn't do much for me. I honestly might just get it because the contour shades are so gorgeous. I hope it's worth the hype!
6. Clinique Pop Lip Colour + Primer
When I saw these lipsticks on Sephora's website, they screamed spring to me! I definitely want to check these little babies out. I heard the pigmentation is amazing, especially because they have primer built in. They also seem really creamy and I want every color!
7. Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight
Another product that I swatched the other day in the store and fell head over heels in love. Can you tell I've been on a highlighting and contour spree lately? I love the idea of this. It reminds me a lot of the NARS The Multiple, but more affordable. I think it would be perfect to just swipe on in the summer time for an easy, ready-to-go look.
8. Sephora Classic Multitasker Powder Brush #45
I have heard the fabulous Essie Button talk about this brush loads of time on her channel and blog, and you guys know how much I love my brushes, so I figured it would be a great one to add to my collection for foundation. I love my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush, but it can't hurt to get another one so I don't have to wash my Real Techniques' one so much.
9. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette
I have had my eyes on this beauty since it came out forever ago, but I have never had the guts or money to ever buy it. I keep telling myself that I will buy it one day and maybe that day is real soon! I love the single one that I have in Mood Light and I really, really want/need more!
10. NARS Dual-Intensity Blush in Adoration
This blush is just freaking gorgeous that I could literally stare at it all day long. I loved it when NARS came out with the Dual-Intensity eye shadows, so these blushes were the topper to some of the most beautiful products that NARS has ever came out with and I need it in my life ASAP.
11. Benefit Roller Lash
This mascara is all the hype right now and I can honestly see why. It just seems like it would give me everything that I want with my lashes, that extra curl and length can really open up my eyes. I really hope it everything I want because I definitely want to buy this. I've been on a mascara high so much lately, why not get another one!
12. Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Exposed
I love Tarte's blushes, they honestly have some of the best on the market. Tarte blushes just scream spring to me. I really want to have exposed in my collection now too! Spring is the perfect time for new blush, so I need to get my hands on it.
13. Tarteguard 30 SPF Lotion
Summer time is approaching and my fair skin is not ready for it! Tarte has recently came out with a new line of sunscreen for the face and I need to get this ASAP. I like usually special sunscreen for my face so it doesn't clog my pores or make me greasy and oily. I really hope this stuff is great!

Since I am a broke senior in college, I clearly will not be buying all these beautiful products, but I do plan to buy some of them. I also plan to do a mini-haul on here after the sale for sure, so stay tuned for that. If you want to participate in the VIB sale, use the coupon code: VIBLOVE and recieve 15% off! What do you plan to buy during the sale? Let me know in the comments down below!

The Sunday Post: Keep Dancing

April 13, 2015

There's a reason that I haven't been active here on my blog or my YouTube lately, and it's not that I got writer's block or lazy. My entire past few weeks - especially this week - have been consumed with dance. I also realize that this is going up after Sunday, but I'm getting to that. For those readers that don't know, I have been dancing since I was 3 years old, so clearly it has been a huge part of my life. This past weekend was my university's dance company's showcase. All 90 girls in the company have been working and practicing for this show since August. It's such a huge deal to everyone and especially to the seniors.

I was supposed to graduate in May of 2015, but transferring universities and adding a second major, it just really put me behind so I have to add one year, making me a super senior and graduating in May of 2016. It feels very strange saying "Class of 2016", because I always thought I'd be Class of 2015. Granted, I am sort of glad I have an extra year, so now I can save up more money and have more time to figure out what in the world I am doing after graduation. However, I knew when it came to my dance showcase, I wanted to perform with my seniors. I wanted to perform with the Class of 2015. I wanted to be in their last dance with them, even though, it wouldn't necessarily be mine. So even though I wasn't going to be graduating, it still meant so much to me to do their senior dance (see first picture above) because these were some of the girls I fist met when I joined this organization. Most of these girls were some of my best friends that I have had in college, so not dancing along their side like I have been for the past three years that I have been apart of this organization, I know it's going to be very different and very hard. Whenever I doubted myself, I turned to them. Whenever I needed to laugh, I turned to them. Whenever I had to vent, I turned to them. Whenever I needed a true friend that could except me for who I am, I always knew I could turn to them. I have great and fantastic friends all over, and even some that I have known exceptionally longer, but having a friend that expresses their emotions the same way you do through dance, that connection is very special to me. There is truly nothing else in the world like that feeling when you can pour heart and soul into a dance and have someone else by your side knowing exactly what you are feeling in that moment. Dance is such a rare language that I was able to finally speak fluently because of these girls.

Growing up, I was never that girl that got along with other girls. I had no clue why girls never liked me. I even had a lot of girls who constantly bullied me. Besides my best friend that I met in my ballet class when I was 3 (who is still my best friend to this day), I never made any true long-lasting friendships in any of my dance classes. So to have a group of at least 90 girls as my friends - but these 10 particularly - no one truly knows how much that means to me. I know that whenever I look back at my time in university, I will think of all of these girls and my time with them. Through the late night practices in the tiny studio above the gym and the itchy sequin costumes, this group of girls will always be my family. I honestly owe them so much because they brought me back to life, and I have no idea where I would be in my college career without them.

I didn't mean to get all sappy, because that's definitely not me, or to write a novel for you. I just really wanted to take this time and this post to really dedicate it to these girls. That is also why this is going up a day late because I couldn't being myself to pour all this out at first, and I wanted it to be perfect for these girls. They truly don't know how much they have helped me grow as a person and really helped me find out who I am. I would have been lost without some of these girls by my side, and I am so thrilled that I get a round two with them next year. I'm certainly no where near done with them yet, and I know we have lot more dance left to go.

Monthly Favorites | March

April 7, 2015

Can we just take a minute real quick to look back and realize that it's already April? 2015 definitely needs to slow down. My spring semester is quickly coming to the end and I'm not ready to let my best friends go! Anyways, you know what time it is then. It's that of the month time that I actually love where I share with you guys my monthly favorites for the month of March, and let's just say, March was very good to me. A lot of the things I was loving this month were from my spring beauty haul that I did a few weeks ago, but I didn't have the chance to really review all the products back then. Now that I have, I have fallen so hard in love with some of these products that there may be a couple of new holy grail items!

However, not all of my products this month were from my spring beauty haul. I did have one lone item that I have had for quite some time now, and when I was de-cluttering my makeup collection, I came across the Revlon PhotoReady Skinlights Illuminator and I fell back in love with it all over again! I forgot how pigmented this highlighter was. If you want a nice liquid highlighter from the drugstore, I would definitely check out this line. I have it in Pink Light because I truly prefer more pink-toned highlights since I have a pink undertone in my skin. I feel like they look a lot more natural on me, and this product even looks natural too. It does have some sparkle in it, but it's not over the top by any means.

One of the holy grail items that I am still obsessing over is the NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer. I know that I must sound like a broken record when it comes to this tinted moisturizer, but it's honestly worth all the hype it deserves. When I say that this product is amazing, I'm not lying at all. I have never seen a tinted moisturizer with such great coverage and is not too orange for my skin type. It blends in seamlessly and does not pool up in my pores or even attach it's self to any dry patches. I do put on my regular moisturizer before applying this, but I also just don't believe in being over moisturized because I'm so dry, and I think it really helps this product go on a lot smoother.

Another amazing product that I can officially consider a holy grail would have to be the Anastasia DIPBROW Pomade. Now I know I am definitely sounding like a broken record for sure when it comes to not only this pomade, but also with Anastasia Beverly Hills' products. That is simply why I'm not going to talk much about this product so much in this post. If you want to read my full review of it, check out my blog post where I did on a full review of it. Other than that, I will say it is worth the hype and I have slowly started incorporating it into my everyday brow routine.

I was obviously very into illumination and radiant natural skin looking makeup this month, so another product I have loved this month was the Maybelline Master Prime in Blue + Illuminate. I love primers that have an illumination effect because that glow is going to appear much more natural on the skin like it's coming from within. A lot of drugstore primers that I have tried tend to be a lot oilier than I hope, but that's not the case with this primer at all. I think it has the perfect texture and goes on very smooth under my foundation. Ultimately, it looks very natural on my skin since it does have that pink tone to it. I definitely love this primer way more than the Almay CC Luminous primer that I tried a while back. That primer seemed a lot more oilier compared to this Maybelline one. As far as a blurring effect, I don't see that at all - at least not with this particular one. I would say if you wanted one that is going to give you that effect, I would go for the Blue + Smooth primer from this line. Other than that, I love this primer and it has been my favorite one from the drugstore so far.

So there you have it, these were my favorites for the month of March! I hope you enjoyed the video. I do plan getting back into the groove of blogging again real soon. Hopefully after this week, everything will be back to normal here on Embur! In the meantime, what have you been loving this month? Let me know in the comments down below!

The Sunday Post: Easter Weekend

April 5, 2015

Happy Easter! I hope you all had a wonderful day and weekend. I certainly did as I lay on my couch devouring a chocolate bunny. I can't believe that it is now April. This year literally needs to slow down because my friends will be graduating soon and I'm not ready for that! I'm also not ready for summer yet. Your girl needs to hit the gym and get her sunless tan on real soon.

Nevertheless, I hope you all had a lovely weekend as did I. This past weekend I went hiking on Stone Mountain in North Carolina. It's a tradition that me and father have every Easter weekend, we hike a different mountain and have some bonding time. Let me tell you now that my calves are really feeling it right now! I don't think we have ever hiked such a steep mountain before. However, we have hiked higher mountains for sure. Even though this is not the highest mountain we have hiked, the view was worth it at the summit. We haven't reached the summit of many mountains because a lot of them tend to be quite tall for a one day's hike. Although one day we would love to do a backpacking trip and camp along the Blue Ridge Parkway and hike parts of the infamous Appalachian trail.

Since we live in North Carolina, we luckily have the gorgeous Appalachian mountains. Then on the other side of the state is the coast which is where I live - I know, North Carolina has the best of both worlds. I'm the kind of girl that loves living at the beach where it is always warm and my allergies don't bother me because salt air is amazing. Every now and then, though, I do like to slip away to the mountains because you can't get a view like the picture above every day. That's such an amazing place that you can really feel so close to God, and on Easter weekend, where else would you rather be than closer to our Father!

Although this weekend is about something more special than chocolate and presents, I was happy to receive a few chocolate goodies from my grandmother. I was pretty gutted that I didn't have a chance to enjoy a nice Easter dinner with my family tonight because I had to travel back to my apartment on the coast for school tomorrow - unfortunately. However, I was thankful to have time with my family this weekend and I am also very luckily that I have my chance to see them again this coming weekend as they are coming to visit me for a performance I have!

I hope you all had a beautiful weekend. Did you have a chance to spend time with your family? What were your Easter plans? Let me know in the comments down below!

The Brow Routine

March 30, 2015

It's time that we wrap up the brow hype on Embur for a bit. For the past couple of weeks, I have been reviewing and talking about various brow products, specifically Anastasia Beverly Hills aka The Queen of Brows. I'm not sponsored by her by any means by the way, I just love her and her brand. However, since I have been talking about a lot of brow products lately, I figured that it was due time that I did an updated brow routine!

I am very fortunate that I do not have to pluck, tweeze, wax, or thread my eyebrows. That shape is au naturale, baby! There are some sparse hairs that could be plucked, but why start that now if I really don't need to! However, the color of my brows are definitely not natural. I personally think my brows are really light, and looks a tad weird when I don't fill them in. Common problem for redheads. Below is my brow routine that I have been doing a lot lately featuring the lovely Anastasia DIPBROW pomade in Auburn. This tutorial is definitely more for a natural brow look for everyday wear, instead of a dramatic bold brow like I do when I pair it with bold eyes and lips.

Anastasia DIPBROW Pomade
NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder Duo
Maybelline Clear Mascara
Sonia Kashuk Spooly
Angled Brow Brush

I hope you enjoyed the video! What do you like to use in your brow routine? Let me know in the comments down below!

Spring Beauty Haul

March 24, 2015

I may or may not have gone a little crazy in Ulta, Sephora, and CVS over my spring break. I had mentioned in a previous post that I really wanted to the Anastasia DIPBROW pomade and the NARS Tinted Moisturizer, and that was literally all I planned on purchasing over my break, but then I walked into Ulta one day to pick up the new Maybelline brow precise pencil, and then the next I knew was I was at the register with a bag full of items. The same at CVS–it's all a blur to me now. Either way, I figured that I should film a haul for you all since I haven't done that in quite some time. I very rarely go on big shopping sprees like this one, so I figure it was about time that I did since I had been saving up for some products for a while.

Like I said above, one of the big things that I wanted was the NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer, and thanks to Heaven above that I finally have it in my possession because this stuff is liquid gold. I haven't stop wearing it since! I'm usually a full-coverage foundation kind of girl, but this baby is converting me to the lighter side. My skin has been really good lately, so I am soaking this moment all up to show off my clear skin. I can already tell you that this jewel will be in my monthly favorites this month for sure.

Another reason I spent a lot of time and money in Ulta was because they had a L'Oreal and Maybelline buy two, get one free deal going on, and you should know I could not pass that up since there was a lot of their products on my 'to buy' list. I have tried out almost all of the products and I think that they are all great quality for a drugstore product. I think drugstore brands are really stepping up their game this year. I feel like a lot of those products are also going to be in my monthly favorites too, so stay tuned for that in a few weeks!

One of the least suspecting products that I bought was the Kiehl's Healthy Skin Starter Kit. Originally I just went to Nordstrom to pick up a jar of the Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream, and I stumbled across this which was the same exact price, but came with so many more products (a lot of them were ones that I was hoping to eventually try too). This was just another one of those deals that I could pass up. I'm still trying these products, so stay tuned for a future review post of these products too!

I hope you guys enjoyed the video! Who else loves spring beauty products? Leave me a comment down below if you have tried any of these products, and what new beauty products do you want to try out this spring?

Breaking Bad Beauty Habits

March 17, 2015

Photography by Julia Minamata
Photography by Julia Minamata

Today I have decided to take a break on talking about makeup products and do something about me. I have seen a lot of bloggers lately talking about some bad beauty habits that they have, and most have made me realize I'm not quite alone with mine. There's something nice about knowing someone else has your weird little quirks. With that being said, I am going to share with you all my bad beauty habits, and maybe you have the same ones as me!

1. Picking off my mascara
Probably my worst habit of all. I don't know why or how I started it. I just pick out the mascara clumps, and then next, my lashes are bare. I notice I do it whenever I'm bored in class or reading. Just by typing this makes me want to start picking at them. It's definitely a habit I need to stop because it's probably the reason I have such short lashes, and I'm also tired of clumps falling into my eyes and black flakes on my cheeks.

2. Neglecting heat protectant
Every single time after I get my hair trimmed, I make a promise to myself to always use heat protectant. Then one morning I start running late, neglect to use it, and fry my hair with my straightener. It's all down hill from there. This is one habit I need to fix ASAP because my hair is becoming so terribly damaged and dry at the ends. Although I really do need to just find a heat protectant that I actually like.

3. Not cleaning my brushes frequently
Literally the number one thing that I hate doing the most when it comes to my makeup, and I'm probably not the only one. It just takes forever since I use shampoo and water from the sink and I have so many usually to clean. I usually will clean them before I do a tutorial or I notice a couple breakouts on my face. Clean skin = No cleaning. At least for me it is, but now that sounds a bit gross, so I need to really work on that.

4. Forgetting to moisturize my body
I moisturize the hell out of my face twice a day, but I always forget to do the rest of my body. It's not that I don't have enough lotion because I'm at the point where I have too much. I think it's just because I'm simply too lazy. However, lately I have been moisturizing my legs and the back of my arms more to reduce and calm my KP. My feet are impossible to stay moisturized, so I probably should work on that since my feet are very important to me since I'm also a dancer.

5. Not washing my hair enough
Now a lot of people would think that washing your hair at least once a week is disgusting and a bad beauty habit to break. However, I actually don't. I have extremely thick hair and it's naturally dry and somewhat coarse. It literally takes about a week for my hair to start getting oily, and that's without using dry shampoo. It's actually terrible to wash your hair everyday, so usually people will do it every other day or every two days, but I hate doing it so if I do not have to, I won't. So actually, this is a "bad beauty habit" that I don't plan on fixing. Sorry not sorry!

6. Picking at my freaking nails
Can you tell that I hate that I do this? I can't help it though, once the polish starts chipping, it's like crack and I can't stop! It's not only my nail polish that I pick at, I will usually pick at the skin around my nails too. This is usually if the skin is dry and peeling around my nails, especially like they do around my thumbs all the time. I think that's a genetic problem, and picking at the skin is also the sign of an anxiety disorder. I'm not 100% sure about that, but that's really interesting if it is. Definitely something I should probably work on, but I don't see it happening in the near future. It's my main tick and basically a part of me now.

So that is all of my terrible habits that hopefully I can break soon. I always try to, but some of them feel like they are a part of me now and I won't be able to quit. C'est la vie. What are some bad beauty habits that you want to break?

The Sunday Post: Spring Break

March 15, 2015

It's the end of another week—spring break to be exact. I write this as I sit on a beach gazing at the sunset. All I need is wine and a boyfriend, and you could say this is the best end to a break ever. Unfortunately, I did not go anywhere exciting for spring break this year. I was just happy to have a break and see my family. I only wish this break was longer!

While I was home, I got to spend lots of time with my friends, like Hannah. I want to say that lots went down, but mainly we just sat around Starbucks and Target gossiping. My hometown is not that exciting, especially when everyone we knew was in Florida for spring break. Next year, I will be going to Florida for sure. I wish we could have at least laid out to tan, but there was no way that I was going to do that in 40 degree weather. If it was not for spending time with Hannah and my adorable parents, I would have been bored to death.

A lot of people I know went to the beach, but I felt like that was overrated since I live at one (I mean how amazing is that picture of basically my backyard). So instead, we ventured into the mountains. It was a bit freezing there and still even a bit of snow on the ground. Definitely not my cup of tea. However, I made a huge dent into my wallet and did a huge shopping spree—it was much needed. I haven't had a huge haul in a long time, so stay tuned for that on my channel and here as well this week. I went a little crazy, but what else are you going to do with your best friend on a rainy weekday with no one else around?

I wish I could say more about my week, but honestly, I was just glad that I had a break. I was desperate need of it from the stress of school and midterms. I felt like I had been slacking off on here and my channel, but I was in such a need of a break that I wanted to do nothing. However, I still had work that needed to be done. That being said, I'm going to finish that said work right about now. How was your past week? What are your plans for your spring break, if you have one?
